Top 4 Lipsticks for Valentine’s Day

Revlon, Rimmel and MAC Lipstick

#1: Revlon – “Pink Pout”

I absolutely love this dusty pink color from Revlon—it has been one of my go-tos for years. Unfortunately, this exact shade is no longer available in stores, but Revlon’s Matte Balm in the shade “Elusive” looks very similar. (If you’ve tried that shade, let me know what you think!) This lipstick has a nice matte finish, but it doesn’t leave your lips feeling overly dry or chalky as some mattes can.

#2: Rimmel Kate Moss – #104

In my quest to find the perfect mauve-y, “my lips but better” shade that everyone went crazy over in 2015, I stumbled upon this gem from Rimmel’s Kate Moss line. This shade is very versatile and can be paired with almost any eye look from smokey to neutral to shimmery, even a simple cat eye would look great. One quick note: All of the lipsticks in the Kate Moss line have a bright, floral scent to them, so if you’re sensitive to fragrance, you may want to find a similar shade from another brand. I also love pairing this color with the Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner in the shade “Enchantment.” Perfection!

#3: Rimmel Kate Moss – #102

Another favorite from Rimmel’s Kate Moss line is this bright pink shade, which would be absolutely perfect for Valentine’s Day. Again, it’s very wearable and not too drying. If you’ve had problems with mattes in the past, try exfoliating with a lip scrub and slathering on a moisturizing balm before applying your color. It is such a fun, upbeat shade that wears very well throughout the day. Also, the drugstore price point is hard to beat and the red and black packaging is too adorable to pass up.

#4: MAC – “Ruby Woo”

And of course no list would be complete without “Ruby Woo” by MAC, because let’s be honest this shade is AMAZING. It is a little pricy ($17), but if you’re going to splurge on a lipstick, this would be the one. It’s such a gorgeous classic red shade that looks great on almost everyone. I will admit, it is a little difficult to apply because it is so matte, but the color payoff is wonderful. A simple red lip paired with black winged liner would look perfect for your Valentines’s Day date.
