Veggie Bites: Raku Sushi & Lounge

Raku Sushi Avocado and Sweet Potato Rolls

Raku Sushi Vegetable Tempura

My boyfriend and I wanted to grab a quick bite before we saw a movie at the ICON Theater in St. Louis Park, so we decided to drop by Raku Sushi & Lounge, the Japanese fusion restaurant located around the corner from the theater. Yes, I’m a vegetarian, but I still love sushi—veggie sushi that is. Most sushi places I’ve been to have the standard avocado or cucumber roll and maybe (if I’m lucky) a specialty veggie roll, but I don’t think I’ve ever been to a place with more than two or three vegetarian-friendly options—until now. There were a variety of options on the menu, including an avocado, asparagus and cucumber roll, and a sweet potato tempura roll that was drizzled with a sweet sauce. My boyfriend ordered the No. 9 specialty roll, which was stuffed with shrimp, salmon and avocado and topped with a spicy mayo sauce, and we also shared an order of vegetable tempura.

Overall, the food was tasty, the service was good and the happy hour prices weren’t bad either. If you are a fan of sushi and have some time to kill before or after your movie, I’d recommend stopping by for a roll or two. // www.rakumn.com
